A new book!
over 1 year ago – Thu, Sep 15, 2022 at 11:23:42 PM

Things were pretty quiet on the Northwest Press front for the past two years—some stuff was happening, I forget what—but I wanted to let you know in case you missed the news…

We’re back with a new book!

A boy and his puppy lay back against a sleeping dinosaur, with drawing pad nearby.

A HOME WITHOUT is an intensely personal autobio fiction graphic novel by Don Gaddis, exploring the family life of River, a sensitive boy growing up a chaotic household in the Bible Belt south.

This beautiful watercolor graphic novel is a stunning account of family dysfunction and escape from abuse, while still showcasing the optimism and hope that we need to survive.

Independent queer comics are not always an easy sell—especially when the subject matter is more challenging—so we would really appreciate your support of the project. I hope you take a look and hear Don introduce the book on the video for the campaign.

(And even if you can’t pledge to back A HOME WITHOUT, a social media share would be most appreciated!)

Thanks!

Zan

DASH comes to life!
almost 3 years ago – Wed, Jun 23, 2021 at 04:42:34 AM

 DASH is now a podcast!

The trailer for the show as well as the first episode are now live, and you can listen to them through Apple Podcasts. Check it out here:

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/dash/id1572907016

(The show is also available on Spotify, Amazon, Stitcher, Google, and RadioPublic.)

I'm sure Dave and company would appreciate a rating and review to help them raise the profile of the new incarnation of DASH, so if you're into what you're hearing, please click buttons and tap keys. :-)

Missing book?
almost 3 years ago – Thu, May 27, 2021 at 07:12:48 AM

Hi all! I had a few secondhand reports of books that haven't arrived. One of them I have shipment info for, and the other I need more info to check on it. If you're in the same boat, please let me know so I can track it down. I got books shipped out to everyone, but there were some missing surveys, and possibly some address changes as well, so it's possible you're among them.

If you didn't get your book, let me know!

Also, congrats to Dave Ebersole and Vinnie Rico on the successful Kickstarter project for TOMMY DAKOTA AND THE SHOOTOUT AT THE BURGUNDY TEN! I'm super jazzed for the book and am excited that I was a backer for it.

All shipments done!
about 3 years ago – Wed, Feb 10, 2021 at 05:51:53 PM

Hi all!

Just a quick note to let you know that yesterday I shipped out the last of the outstanding books, as well as the signed prints that were part of some backers' rewards but were shipped separately from their books.

Thanks for your patience while we got everything sorted out, and I hope you love your stuff!

If you're missing something other than a print or book (or if you still don't have your book after a week or so) please let me know and I'll make find out what's up.

Thanks so much for your support of the project!

Saying goodbye to 2020
about 3 years ago – Fri, Jan 01, 2021 at 08:02:50 PM

Hi all!

Sorry for the delay in providing an update, but I wanted to get a better handle on what remained to complete—and when it would happen—before the project fulfillment is totally done.

If you haven't downloaded the digital edition and your pledge included one, the link to download the digital edition is here: https://northwestpress.com/dash_KS

A short summary on the signed prints: shipping from the US to Mexico through the US Postal Service is a bad idea. (Apparently our Glorious Leader's efforts to cripple the USPS were not all in vain.)

I shipped a package of 150 prints to Vinnie Rico in Mexico in October, and they didn't arrive for about two months, with zero updates on the tracking. (I even shipped a second package, after sending the first and thinking it had disappeared, and that one didn't arrive at all.)

The good news is that he did finally get them and is signing them now. He will pack up and send them back UPS, with an expected Jan 5 arrival date.

I delayed the international shipments that included a print until I could get the prints, because shipping the book and print separately would be just too expensive. I'm really sorry for the delay, but it would have added hundreds of dollars to the postage cost and I just couldn't afford it.

If you're missing anything besides a book or a print, please let me know and I'll track it down.

That said, I'm really grateful to you all for backing the project. It turned out even better than we hoped, and I really hope you enjoy it, when you get your copy (if you haven't already).

I hope that your 2021 will be full of art, joy, good health, and comfort.
